Welcome to the Fourth Annual New England Water Garden and Ornamental Fish Show June 14 & 15th, 2008 Mallary Arena, Eastern States Exhibition Grounds, West Springfield, MA
The Pioneer Valley Water Garden & Koi Club (PVWG&KC) is proud to present the Fourth Annual New England Water Garden & Ornamental Fish Show (NEWGOFS). We are especially excited because this year’s event will take place at the Eastern States Exhibition Grounds, home of the largest fair in the country, the Big E. One of our main goals as a club is to promote and expand this wonderful hobby. We do this by informing and educating the public and club members on how to build, and maintain a successful pond or water garden, and how to keep its inhabitants healthy. We view this show as a perfect vehicle to reach these goals, and have worked very hard to ensure its success. We are a non-profit organization. Each and every club member who volunteers to help produce this show, does so for only their love of the hobby. We all hope you can join us.
The show will consist of: Trade Show – Shop till you drop! With over 20,000 sq. ft. of
space, we are boasting the largest Trade Show
Water Garden & Landscape Displays – Need Ideas? This is the perfect opportunity to stroll through beautiful displays and learn from the landscapers, contractors, and artists who created them.
Koi Show – Koi come in all colors and sizes - up to 36”! Be witness to some of the most beautiful Koi on the East Coast, even some exciting new varieties, all being carefully scrutinized by an AKCA certified judge. Also, join our judge on Sunday morning at 10:00 to 11:00 for a walk-through discussion of our fabulous watery pets.
Seminars/Demos – Learn from the experts! On Saturday from 10:00 a.m. –
5:00 p.m. lecturers will do half-hour seminars on their area of expertise. This
will give some exhibitors a chance to showcase their products or skills while
educating you to the finer aspects of the hobby. The talks will cover
everything from buying Koi to
Water Garden Container Competition – A must for all aquatic plant lovers! With so many water garden enthusiasts in New England, this is always one of the highlights of the show! The competition will help demonstrate just how large the variety of plants and container combinations there are available for water gardening. Additionally, people with limited space will learn ways that they, too, can enjoy the hobby.
The Goldfish Competition – I’ll bet you didn’t know that more than 80% of the ornamental fish used in water gardens and ponds are Goldfish. With so many varieties, and ease of care, fancy goldfish have always been a favorite among the hobbyist. Take part and learn more about the entrants in this interesting competition.
Wet lab – Hands-on is the best way to learn! Sunday at 11:30 to 1:30 Koi Health Advisor, Karen Pattist, will demonstrate the latest methods of keeping our wet pets healthy. Learn how to test your water, use a microscope to identify the parasites, and diagnose unhealthy fish.
Raffles and Free Giveaways – Time to Win! There will be raffles throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday. Winners of the day raffles will be posted every hour until 5:00, Saturday and 3:00, Sunday. Winners of the major show giveaways will be announced at 3:00, Sunday.
