2004 POND TOUR

HOME  #6

Norma & Bill Kulle
Springfield, Ma

As you go up the driveway go to the left around to the backyard, there is a river that goes through their yard.  Look to your right and see Norma & Bill's 2 yr old handmade pond.  It starts up at the top of the hill with one waterfall after another . . . etc. till you get to 3 levels of ponds.  The backyard slopes down and Bill himself put in all the Large rocks to create different levels.  A lot of hard work here.  Along the rocks and ponds are flowers, grasses and many other plantings.

This dentist office courtyard is very beautiful, handmade 2 years ago.  The pond is 7' lined with rock and is fed by 2 6' long cascading waterfalls.  They currently have a pet turtle named Larry, 3 butterfly Koi, and water iris's.  The pond is lighted at night and a pathway leads through the courtyard and crosses over planted specious accenting the landscape.

Stanley & Virginia Takarski, Jr             Chicopee, Ma

The original pond is a preformed structure 4' x 3.5' built 2 yrs ago with a small waterfall, goldfish, and shubunkins.  The second pond was handmade last year. 7' x 6' with a cascading waterfall.  It has goldfish, shubunkins and Koi.  A water wheel and a bridge decorate the ponds for effects.  Flowers and statues surround the pond.  Walking areas have pink carnation stone underfoot.  Stanley is presently building a bog pond.

HOME  #9

Jon Kingsley &       Joan Anderson           South Hadley, Ma

This is a 12' x 16' gravel bottom pond with a 40' brook winding thru the trees in a natural setting with lots of ferns, wild blueberries, and birdhouses.  Joan & Jon hand built and landscaped the pond just last spring.  Jon worked really hard chopping & digging thru all the tree roots & Joan took pictures. Tough job but someone had to do it.  The pond is home to several koi, a few shubunkins & lots of little frogs & butterflies.  The brook is also used as a birdbath for many different birds.  We love just sitting on the deck & watching all the natural activity wondering what if any flowers will come back next year.

HOME  #10

Ken & Penny Gagnon

Chicopee, Ma

Over the course of 5 days in August of 2002, we transformed our backyard into a tranquil retreat.  The pond is kidney shaped with an elevated waterfall and is surrounded by both perennials and annuals.  Our collection of Koi enjoy the many water garden plants.  The dimensions of the pond are approximately 23' long x 10-12' wide and nearly 3 feet deep.

Robert & Sandra Wissman

Hatfield, Ma

Total relaxation awaits you as you step into this backyard oasis.  Double waterfalls ripple down into a fish pond nestled into a beautiful landscaped natural setting.  Also featuring a stone wall with a fountain.  This was handmade 1 year ago.  Beautiful azaleas hostas, perennials, and even statues surround this landscape along with a walkway and a flagstone patio.
